Must-see sight in four seasons-1

Experiencing Toyama Through the Seasons

Toyama is picture-perfect throughout the year, and each season has its own special highlights.

Spring (Apr–Jun)

Cherry blossoms, tulips, and many other flowers bloom beautifully in Toyama in April.
April also marks the opening of the Snow Wall Walk, a highlight of the Kurobe Tateyama Alpine Route.
The experience is available from mid-April to late June.
Temperatures in spring range from approximately 7°C to 21°C, so it's always a good idea to have a light jacket that you can throw on.

Summer (Jul–Sep)

Hot and humid summers, daytime temperatures can exceed 30°C (86°F).
During this season, we recommend avoiding the heat at high altitude. The best season for climbing Tateyama is from July to August.
It is also a good time to attend nighttime festivals. The heat is less intense than during the day.
Whether sightseeing by the sea or climbing the mountain, hats and other sunshades are necessary.

Autumn (Oct–Nov)

The autumn foliage season is from September to October in the mountains and from October to November in the plains.
In October, snow may flicker near the top of Tateyama.
The Kurobe Gorge trolley car is in regular operation until mid-November, so don't miss the short autumn foliage season.

In the Shogawa Gorge, the landscape looks like an ink painting, and in Gokayama, the Gassho-zukuri roofs are covered with snow.
January and February are cold, with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 7°C, so be sure to stay warm, but March is a bit milder.
