Tsuzawa Yotaka Andon Festival 津沢夜高あんどん祭

Impressive collisions between large lanterns!

This is also called the Fighting Lantern Festival because of the violent collisions of large lanterns with musha-e (warrior pictures) painted on them. A Yotaka Odori Dance Parade and children’s taiko competition (pre-festival) are also held. The sight and sound of the floats crashing into each other, amidst boisterous shouts, trying to destroy each other’s tsurimono is really impressive! The lantern festival, in which a huge harvest is requested and thanks is given for the autumn crop, has become a message from the people to the gods. Why don’t you try to experience this impressive festival.
