Experience the lifestyle of Japan’s forefathers just as it was!
Inside this quaint old building, you can experience the lifestyles of Japan’s forefathers as if you had fallen through time itself. In the past, people combined their strengths to carry out self-sufficient farming and home-based manual work in order to survive. This folk museum exhibits the tools used by villagers for many long years. Each of these cultural heritage items tells a tale of the lives of the villagers they once belonged to. Also, from the perspectives of food, light, celebration, festivity and so on, the wisdom and hardship of the forefathers are conveyed and it is as though the artifacts speak to you about the history of these people who shared a tight bond.
No. 1 Building – Exhibition of folklore materials in the former home of the Ozaki family.
No. 2 Building – Exhibition of washi production materials in the former home of the Nakatani family.
