Uozu Aquarium 魚津水族館

This aquarium displays fish from Toyama Bay as well as rare species from around the world

Featuring a display specifically about Toyama, the prefecture's one and only aquarium has become even more popular since reopening after renovations in March of 2013. It is organized around the themes "From the mountain streams of the Japanese Alps to the depths of the Sea of Japan", and "Studying the Sea of Japan". The aquarium features a full menu of events such as feeding time and story time in the Toyama Bay tank, a fish show featuring a dive with striped beakfish, and seal and penguin feeding time in the outdoor pool. Uozu Aquarium also boasts some of the most advanced research on the ecology of the firefly squid; from mid-March through the end of May, this interesting species is on display! Whether you come in a group, on a date, or with the family, the great variety of events and displays ensures that there is something for everyone!
