Fugan Canal Kansui Park 富岩運河環水公園

A romantic park overlooking a picturesque canal

This waterside park around a former boat mooring area on the Fugan Canal is about a 9-minute walk from Toyama Station. Wide green lawns and waterfront promenades make the park a popular place for strolling and relaxing in the city. 

Tenmon-kyo Bridge spans the canal and is a symbol of the park. The brick observation towers at each end of the bridge offer sweeping views of the park and the Tateyama mountains. Ainoshima is an artificial island on the canal and a sanctuary for wild birds. The Fugan Suijo Line is a canal cruise from the park to the port town of Iwase. 

Within the park, there are several options for refreshments and meals. A Starbucks Coffee store is designed to maximize views of the park, with large glass windows and a wooden deck for seating. Cuisine Francaise La Chance offers modern French cuisine with views of the canal. The first floor is a casual brasserie with take-out options, and the second floor is an elegant restaurant offering set course menus.

In the evening, Kansui Park takes on a romantic atmosphere, and features such as Tenmon-kyo Bridge, and the fountain, at the southern end of the park, are lit up. There are also seasonal illuminations throughout the year, including during cherry blossom season and in fall.
