Toyama Municipal Folk Craft Village 富山市民俗民芸村
Immerse yourself in Toyama’s traditional crafts and architecture
Tools and items from daily life displayed through the museums give visitors an insight into life in Toyama during the Edo period (1603–1867). The Museum of Ceramic Art is housed in the grand former residence of a wealthy farmer, built in 1894. After viewing typical everyday ceramics, visitors can try painting their own plate. The Museum of Medicine Peddlers details the lives of Toyama’s traveling medicine peddlers, who delivered medicine to homes across Japan. Other museums are dedicated to archeology and art. At the Clay Dolls Studio, visitors can try their hand at painting a traditional ceramic doll. Tea Ceremony House Enzan-an serves traditional matcha green tea with wagashi sweets.
