The Shinminato Hikiyama Festival, held on October 1 every year, is an annual festival of Houshozu Hachimangu Shrine. 13 heroic Hikiyama floats parade through the town, changing their costumes to “Hana-yama” by day and “Chochin-yama” by night, with the sound of Hikiyama music echoing through the air and the call of “Iyasa-yasa” echoing out. The grandeur of the thirteen floats as they make a sharp turn around a narrow street corner is a highlight of the festival. The nighttime reflection of the lantern floats on the surface of the Uchikawa River is a fantastic sight.

Car Park	The Kaioumaru Park parking lot will be the designated parking area (free of charge) for general visitors. A free shuttle bus will run from the Kaioumaru Park parking lot to the Hikiyama parade area.
Getting There	■About 20 minutes from Kosugi IC on Hokuriku Expressway. ■Take the Manyo Line from Takaoka Station and get off at Daiichi Inn Shinminato Crossbay-mae, Shinmachiguchi, or Nakashinminato. ■From Kosugi Station, board a “sightseeing (temporary) bus” or “community bus” and disembark at “Cross Bay Shinminato”.
